A: Our summer program is designed to be flexible enough to allow a player to miss games and training for summer vacations (June, July and early August). Furthermore, tryouts begin August 24, and all players WILL go through a tryout procedure. Teams will begin daily training once selections have been made, so please make plans accordingly. |
Q: Are there tryouts? A: Yes, there are tryouts. Given the number of participants, we are unable to place everyone who attends tryouts on a team. The coaching staff will do everything possible to be sure everyone is given a fair opportunity to show their soccer abilities and knowledge during tryouts. The coaching staff will evaluate each player in some of the following areas: attitude, ball skills, fitness, knowledge of the game, teamwork, coach-ability, passing skills, speed and work ethic. |
Q: What do I need to be eligible for tryouts in August? A: All players will need to have the “BSD Player Participation Form” and a “Medical Examination Form” on file with the Southridge High School Athletic Department PRIOR to tryouts. The “BSD Player Participation Form” must be filled out yearly, while the “Medical Examination Form” must be updated every two years. Any player that does not have these forms on file with the school, CAN NOT TRYOUT until they are on file with the school. |
Q: What can I do to get ready for tryouts? A: Players need to get as many touches on a soccer ball as they can in the off season. In training with a team, by yourself, with another player or group of players, you can juggle, practice dribbling, passing, shooting, trapping, play small sided games, etc. We recommend that you find time daily to train even if it is by yourself. Players should spend time conditioning, we offer a conditioning program in our "Training Tips" section of our website. |
